Atrophic Vaginitis is caused by a decrease in the estrogen level. Estrogen secretion decreases sharply after menopause (after 45 years). In some younger women this disease may occur, especially who underwent a surgery of the uterus or its removal.
In some cases, the estrogen level may fall sharply after childbirth or during breast feeding. Some of the symptoms of Atrophic Vaginitis are the following;
- The main symptom is vaginal soreness along with itching and burning sensation. This may increase and become intolerable in some cases.
- Slight discharge from the vagina is a common symptom of Atrophic Vaginitis.
- Light bleeding immediately after intercourse
- Burning in the vagina after urination and even after that
- Extremely painful sexual intercourse
Permanent treatment for bacterial Vaginitis is available in major gynecological clinics. They help women with acute vaginal trouble. Atrophic Vaginitis will make you more prone to diseases caused by bacterial and yeast (vaginal infection).
Atrophic Vaginitis can also cause open sore or even cracks in the vaginal wall. If you consult a medical practitioner, then he can administer gel or water soluble lubricant. Sometime, doctors recommend oral drugs. Burning, itching and soreness caused by Atrophic Vaginitis can be completely cured.
